ABOUT TAOS, NM
Taos is a small ski town and artists colony located in the mountains of Northern New Mexico. Taos lies in an area of outstanding natural beauty near the Rio Grande Gorge There are many ski areas nearby (downhill, cross-country, and snowboarding), wonderful trails for hiking and horseback riding, and some of the nation's best mountain biking trails.
For over a hundred years makers have flocked to Taos. The artist colony was founded by artists attracted by the rich culture of the Taos Pueblo and beautiful landscape. Painters like Georgia O'Keeffe, Nicolai Fechin, and Andrew Dasburg, and more recently artists Ken Price and R.C Gorman all called Taos home.
Taos is still a sanctuary for the arts. Home to more than eighty art galleries, multiple studios, retreats, art centers and classes for all ares and skill sets. With its slow pace, outstanding environment and secluded nature Taos is the perfect place to lose yourself in art.
